Vladimir Yakushev moves to the Ural Federal District

Tyumen region’s former Governor Yakushev will become the new presidential envoy to the Ural Federal District

The appointment will take effect on May 12, 2023. According to the decree, Yakushev was relieved of his post of Senator of the Federation Council from the Tyumen Oblast.

Vladimir Yakushev was born on 27 November, 1968, in the city of Salekhard (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug). In 1990, he graduated from the Tyumen Civil Engineering Institute with a degree in Industrial and Civil Construction. In 2001, he obtained a second higher education degree, graduating from the Tyumen State University with a degree in Jurisprudence.

Political career

Vladimir Yakushev began his career in 1994 as a chief specialist of the Tyumen Oblast Property Management Committee. From 2000 to 2001, he acted as the Chief of Staff of the Tyumen Oblast Administration. In 2001, he became the First Deputy Governor of the Tyumen Oblast. From 2005 to 2018, Vladimir Yakushev held the position of the Governor of the Tyumen Oblast. In September 2018, Mr. Yakushev was elected as a Senator of the Council of the Federation of the Russian Federation from the Tyumen Oblast.

Vladimir Yakushev has been awarded the Order of Honor, the Order of Friendship, the Medal of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland”, 1st class, the Medal “For Services to the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug”, the Honorary Diploma of the President of the Russian Federation.

Pavel Tarakanov, who previously held the post of the presidential envoy to the Ural Federal District since May 2022, was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation – Chief of Staff of the Government of the Russian Federation.
