Undefeated Streak Propels Team to Championship Game

After Losing Opener, Team Rallies to Win Next Two Games by a Combined Score of 17-2

The Council Rock Newtown Baseball team is one win away from reaching the Little League World Series. The team, which has been on an undefeated streak through districts, sectionals, states, and regionals, will try to end that streak on Thursday night in the championship game.

Council Rock Newtown dropped its opener to Boerne, Texas, 9-0, on Thursday night's Little League World Series opener.

But the team rallied to win its next two games by a combined score of 17-2. In its second game, Council Rock Newtown defeated Great Lakes champion Grand Rapids, Michigan, 9-1. In its third game, the team defeated Southwest champion Tulsa, Oklahoma, 8-1.

Council Rock Newtown is scheduled to play its World Series opener at 7 p.m. on Thursday against the winner of the Great Lakes-Southwest game.

Team's Success Fueled by Pitching and Offense

The Council Rock Newtown team's success has been fueled by a combination of strong pitching and timely hitting. On the mound, the team has been led by Saverio Longo, who has allowed just one earned run in 10 innings pitched.

At the plate, the team has been led by Anthony Cillo, who is batting .429 with three home runs and 11 RBIs.

Team Hopes to Make History

The Council Rock Newtown team is hoping to make history by becoming the first team from Pennsylvania to win the Little League World Series since 1960.

The team will be a heavy underdog in the championship game, but they will be confident in their chances after their strong performance in the tournament so far.
