Toronto Blue Jays Overcome Cold Spell with Triumph
Varsho Breaks Out with Key Hit
The Toronto Blue Jays ended their recent slump with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Friday, October 1, 2023.
After a slow start to the season, Blue Jays' outfielder Daulton Varsho provided a much-needed spark, breaking out of a cold spell with a game-winning double in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Varsho's clutch hit drove in two runs, giving the Blue Jays the lead and the eventual win. He finished the game with two hits, including the game-winning double, and two RBIs.
The Blue Jays also received solid pitching performances from starter Kevin Gausman and reliever Jordan Romano. Gausman allowed two runs on five hits over six innings of work, while Romano closed out the game with a scoreless ninth inning for his 20th save of the season.
The victory improves the Blue Jays' record to 75-67, keeping them in the hunt for a Wild Card spot in the American League.
